Are Bishops not consecrated and priests ordained?

  2. Terry Tee says:

RBP, that is indeed traditional Anglican usage. In the RC Church, however, for some two decades or more the word ordained has been used for all three levels of ministry. It may be that the reporter was using Catholic language.

I cannot speak of CoE usage, but the 1979 Prayer Book of The Episcopal Church refers in the ordinal to the ordinations of bishop, priest, and deacon. Consecration is often used of the ordination of a bishop, but it is not the “official” term.

Ordained or consecrated Steve Croft is an extremely able man. I live in Halifax UK. Steve was born in the borough at Northowram, primary school there, on to Heath Grammar School (now combined with another grammar school) then on to Oxford.
After a curacy in Enfield he returned ‘home’ and became vicar of Ovenden, Halifax an Urban Priority Area parish in the Diocese of Wakefield, where he worked from 1987–1996. A very alive church under him and his predecessor Chris Edmondson who is now Bishop of Bolton.
Both of them had and have their hearts in mission.
