Referring to last month’s United Nations climate summit in Copenhagen, where political leaders failed to negotiate a way to curb greenhouse-gas emissions, Benedict said the summit offered evidence of “economic and political resistance to combating the degradation of the environment.”
“I trust that in the course of this year … it will be possible to reach an agreement for effectively dealing with (climate change),” Benedict said. “The issue is all the more important in that the very future of some nations is at stake, particularly some island states.”
I love Pope Benedict and think he’s the best thing to happen to the RCC in my lifetime, consequently, I’m sorry to see he’s fallen for the global warming hoax.
Him and about 90% of the world’s qualified scientists.
By your count?
As a Catholic, I wish the pope would just focus on conservation, and good stewardship of creation, instead of using the phrase “climate change.”
Personally, I stay out of the “climate change” debate. Whether or not our pollution, and over-reliance on nonrenewable energy sources cause global warming or cooling or whatever isn’t even the issue for me. What I do know is that they are affecting the current physical and financial health of our country, and that is good enough reason for me to be concerned about how we treat the environment. As an avid runner who loves being outside as much as possible, I don’t care to breathe in toxic air, and I am not a big fan of pollutants and pharmaceuticals in the water emasculating males of various species. Like I said, I never tie my concern about conservation and good environmental stewardship to “climate change” because the theories about that seem to change every decade or so. Plus, it is not helped when the “faces” of climate change prevention are rich and famous celebrities and politicians in private jets living it up instead of making real sacrifices; some of us are just trying to live more simply for the sake of our health, environment, and budget. It seems to me that this is the way of the saints.
