Having just gotten off a phone conference with attorneys (and people who think they know more than attorney’s)…..
I read the full letter to the Standing Commissions and noted that they are only requested to “complete” the consent form. I suppose it is obvious, but given the history I would have asked that all required signatures be affixed per the Canons of the Church.
The link to the letter shows the letter only. Are the “attached” forms available for reveiw or are they personalized/addressed to the specific diocese? Did the forms really out??????? Isn’t it amazing that every t needs to be crossed and i dotted in this election, but not for VA.
Scotsreb,
The letters of consent are not sent out until the election itself is “certified.” In this case, those letters would be sent out as soon as certification is proclaimed. It is 120 days from then. If you do a search on the old TitusOneNine blogsite you will find the entire appropriate canon posted.
August 31st was when the letters were sent out from South Carolina to the Standing Committees. Bishop’s letters were sent out from the PB’s office probably the same day; the bishop of San Joaquin has received his and was filling it out today.

It is the long form, right?
Does the clock for the consent process, run 90 days from 8/31/07?
#1, your comment is not too far wide of the mark, re signatures.

RGEaton
This will be the test if there’s any decency left.
Don’t look now, but…the Diocese’s link to Titusonenine (in the right hand column) needs to be updated.
