Tuesday’s election results represent a historic repudiation of the president. Yesterday, Mr. Obama acknowledged the severity of this loss and said that he assumes “direct responsibility” for our stalled economic recovery. He also said he was “eager to hear good ideas wherever they come from.” This is progress. He should now propose an agenda that goes a long way toward meeting GOP demands, while preserving a key number of his goals and priorities.

Well, I watched the President’s press conference yesterday. While he did take “direct responsibility,” when queried by the press several times as to what exactly he’d have changed, he never gave a straight answer. Classic post-modern press conference, taking responsibility in principle but not actually changing your position on anything, even if you have it to do over again.
It brought back scenes from that old M*A*S*H episode where Trapper and Hawkeye are trying to get an incubator for the hospital and work their way up the foodchain to the General having a press conference. The General, in a pique of rage, makes the statement, “This is a press conference! The last thing I want to do is answer a lot of questions!”
Gridlock here we come.
Yeah…sounds nice, but he still has no grasp that ramming health care through without even reading it and against the will of 80% of the people is NOT the way America is supposed to work! Americans want health care to cost less so that more people could afford it. What Obama and the Democrats did was make it more expensive for everyone and demand that everyone buy it or face penalties. Since when does the government have the power to force people to buy anything? Where is that power enumerated in the Constitution? The Democrats don’t care about the Constitution, they just force their agenda when they get power. They violate the 9th and 10th Amendments without batting an eye. They believe in free speech only when it agrees with them. They believe in thought crime…hence “hate crime” laws that punish the motivation for a crime.
The president claims they had to do everything because of dire emergency and Emanuel said that you should never waiste a crisis. I believe the latter.
while i agree with the end part of what you say no. 2, are you suggesting that people shouldn’t ‘have’ to buy auto insurance? and the plain fact is that sick people make insurance companies spend more money, that is the reason why they don’t want to insure pre existing conditions and they put a cap on how much they will pay for illnesses. sick people are the ones most likely to use insurance and that makes it more costly for the group. that is why EVERYONE needs to buy to even it out for the ones who are going to be using it the most. that is the only way costs are going to come down-if everyone shares in the overall risk pool. that is how insurance works. it’s the same with life insurance. terminally ill people cannot buy it after they get sick that is why you have to take a physical to prove you’re in good health before you are approved.
all the griping in the world isn’t going to change this fact. imo people are more worried about jobs than repealing the healthcare bill. he should have made that his first priority.
if the dems don’t care about the constitution, conversely the republicans never cared about people, they just forced their agenda when they had power. they sure as hades never cared about the middle class. they are both extreme and both worthless.
