After carefully analyzing the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice’s publications and website, it becomes clear that it is an organization that talks about “religion,” but has no foundation in Judeo-Christian principles or a worldview based on the scriptures.
In contrast, The Episcopal Church is a Christian communion that is supposed to be faithful to biblical teaching. Affiliating with the RCRC, which is a “religious” organization that promotes philosophies contrary to authorized church teachings, invalidates the mission of the church.
That is why The Episcopal Church’s membership in the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice should be terminated. As Christians, we proclaim the gospel of life. We don’t justify the shedding of innocent blood nor do we encourage people to make choices that lead to death. Christianity is about life eternal.
As a child of God, woman, wife of a CANA priest, mother of two teenagers, and an Anglicans for Life life coordinator, all I can say is:
Georgette rocks!
ECUSA’s position with the RCRC sickens me.
but will anyone listen? 🙁
Another reason I’m thankful to be out of TEC
God bless Ms. Forney, and may she live so long. 🙁
#2, I don’t think anyone in TEC who holds power, will listen at all, while those who are so focussed on advancing sexual promiscuity of all kinds, are in charge.
TEC’s membership in RCRC is a logical extension of its mindset, which causes TEC to be so involved in supporting all the other progressive, secular, social and sexual causes put forth in society today.
That said though, TEC’s membership in RCRC is absolutely, revolting.
To consider the fact that Christian priests and bishops, actually support the killing of babies in utero, leaves one stunned and yes, sickened.
#4, that reminds me of Victor McLaughlin in the Quiet Man, who quipped: “He’ll regret it to his dying day … if ever he lives that long”.

Or aborted, one might say.
To the article:
AMEN
I was glad to be the sponsor of the resolution of the Standing Committee of Pittsburgh opposing TECs affiliation with RCRC and I am immensely proud of Georgette Forney and her steadfast ministry for the sanctity of life. I agree with Janet, Georgette rocks!
David Wilson
[In addition, two resolutions were introduced at General Convention seeking to rescind the RCRC affiliation, but were rejected.]
Does this mean they were regected by vote. Or regected before they were presented to GC? I do not quite understand TEC’s organization.
They were not presented to the GC – all resolutions were either killed on technicalities or died in committee.
Thank you Branford,
So this means they contradicted the cannons? Does the committee have the power to reject proposals for any reason?
I find in Canada that the Council of General Synod has a great deal of power in setting agendas, but do not think it has quite this much power.
I am not sure if the ACoC is in a similar ‘reproductive’ organization, and would not be surprised.
I find aggressive support for abortion the ideological undermining of the progressive movement in the church. There stance is quite consistent until they start trading supposed quality of life for life itself. A number of years back I remember hearing about a marvelous breakthrough in curing Cystic Fibrosis. The supporters of the research talked of the possibility of eliminating the disease. The cure turned out to be fetal screening for the disease allowing the parents the option of aborting the child. This is a very miserable disease, and I have know two people who have had it. They would have certainly traded their disease for many things, but neither would have traded life itself.
The Didache in Chapter 2 says,†you shall not murder a child by abortion nor kill that which is begotten.†So the early Church had an understanding that abortion is killing.
A link to the Didache with some interesting commentary is below.

The RCRC involvement is an Executive Committee decision which was refused General Convention evaluation by political machinations. Interesting that the EC can align with anyone it chooses between GC’s and is not subject to GC oversight. Except when playing dodgeball with the bishops over someone really standing up for the ECUSA/TEC positions on Anglican Communion membership. The membership in the RCRC is a blot on the ECUSA written in innocent blood.
