1. Capt. Father Warren says:

Rerun Jimmy Carter: flawed, flacid leadership, a small character of a man unable to break the bonds of his own limitations, image and poll concious, unable to relate the greatness of America to the current challenges.

Cue up Barack Obama: narcissistic personality disorder, hates the constitution, seeks to ignore American history, longs for a European type socialistic system, convinced that he is the right person to make it work, governs against the will of the people, circumvents constitutional processes for his ends, not interested in leadership-only domination.

End result in each case: the engine which is America is stalled while two worthless presidents work out their inner psyhcological problems and fantasies on the world stage.

Cure: elect a president who truly believes in the greatness of America and understands the boundless energy to be released by a real leader.

Von Drehle writes:
[blockquote]We’re not inventing less[/blockquote]
I’d like to see the proof of that and what we are inventing in comparison to some other countries.

There is something right in both articles. Von Drehle celebrates many of the positives of our nation. Zakaria points out that we continue not to have the political will to seek practical solutions some basic long term problems, and that we are in danger of becoming less flexible in our responses to underfunded entitlement programs. A Tea Party President might be part of the solution.

5. Capt. Father Warren says:

and that we are in danger of becoming less flexible in our responses to underfunded entitlement programs.

Underfunded entitlement programs? I think you mean the unfunded liabilities in our entitlement programs. Many would argue they are currently WAY overfunded.

#1 Excellent post, spot on. We are what often capable of what our leaders see in us. Current leader sees nothing, wants to give us things we do not want, wants only the power which comes from being the Big Giver. Doesn’t even understand the American psyche, which is all about what I can do and what I will step up to do. His ego has been his undoing. We are the stars of this story, if un-named, but our work is the end in itself. We get our joy from accomplishment, he has no knowledge of that. He sees only entitlements and handouts. What a waste. He is an idiot, incapable of seeing what is right in front of him. But, maybe that is his ideology. Make him go away, and he should take pelosi and reid and schumer and waxman and all the others with him.
