Another example of the spectacular growth of TEC we were promised post-2003.
All for an ASA of around 1700, down from the high in 2001 of 2000.
The perpetual trust referred to in the letter provides substantially all of the operating funds of the diocese, and much of what supports the parishes. People are few, and people who give them money seem even fewer.
To be fair, it is tough to be, in LDS terms, a “gentile” in Utah. Even the ACNA/CANA/AMiA have only one small congregation. By comparison, the Catholic Diocese of SLC lists 65 parishes and missions.
APB,
As the rector of that small congregation in Utah (St. John’s Anglican in Park City – http://www.stjohnsanglican.org) I can vouch for that! Although the LDS presence is less influential than it once was, and even less so in Park City – which is a resort community. Our challenge here is less LDS than it is vague spirituality.

A surprisingly austere letter given that the Dio of Utah had a 16.5 percent increase in real (inflation adjusted) Plate & Pledge dollars from 2002 through 2009. If ssuch austerity is needed when the wood is wet, what will happen when the wood is dry? How perpetual is the trust fund? Statmann
