“What concerns us is the message that it sends,” said Atheist of Florida member Rob Curry. “A very chilling message that, if you’re not a Christian, if you don’t believe as we do, then you’re not welcome.”
Curry’s referring to a road-anointing performed on CR 98 last year as part of the “Polk Under Prayer” campaign, where Christians poured olive oil on the asphalt and prayed over it, calling for a revival in the area.
Mighty superstitious for someone who believes holy oil and prayer are a bunch of medieval bunk.
Man, atheists threatened by something as innocent as olive oil! If they do not believe there is any spiritual meaning behind it having been blessed, why are they so upset about it?

So it’s a ritual act, to advance their belief system. I don’t think that they’re entirely clear on the concept of atheism.
They’re lost souls.
If they truly believe God does not exist, why are they so threatened by something that isn’t there? Really, does anyone fuss over denying the existence of the tooth fairy or the Easter bunny? I suspect deep down they’re not quite sure of their belief system.
Marvellous. Now if the clergy of Florida can be persuaded to drive round the streets on the back of pickups spraying holy oils and water as they go, it should lead to a rush of atheists ensuring the cleanest streets ever.

Well, as silly as this is, what we see is a drive to divorce state from religion and that cannot be done. You cannot create a worldview free zone. They seek to enshrine their own worldview and drive all others from public view.
