John Bingham–The Government's marriage document makes no reference to children, husbands or wives

The Government’s consultation document on same-sex marriage does not mention the word “children”, “husband” or “wife”.

The words “father” and “mother” and “families” receive only a passing technical reference in the 25-page document published by the Coalition in March.

The Roman Catholic Church said the absence of any reference to children illustrated how the “meaning” of marriage would be altered by the proposals.

That must be right. On the one hand the government bewails the breakdown in society from marriage breakdown, dysfunctional parenting, truancy, mental health issues, children without any sort of ethical or moral compass or role model for happy family life or social interaction. On the other hand a majority ‘Conservative’ government no longer stands for the family which gave that functioning unit to the child for his or her nurture and upbringing.

Just listen to the young people who are the victims, in more than one way, and they are angry, let down, and alienated.

Such is the dysfunction not only in family life but it is reflected in this dysfunctional and failing coalition government. Less time tweeting LOL in ignorance of its meaning and more time doing what it was elected to do as we are about to be buffeted by that other dysfunctional and delinquent family, Europe.

In Spain passports and birth certificates already have done away with the terms ‘Father’ and ‘Mother’. They now say ‘Progenitor A’ and ‘Progenitor B’.
