(Phil. Inquirer) Episcopal Church leaders set to consider blessing rite for same-sex couples

Sixteen fractious years after it allowed the ordination of homosexuals, the Episcopal Church appears poised to adopt a blessing rite for same-sex couples wishing to wed….A longtime supporter of a same-sex blessing, [Bishop Charles] Bennison said in a recent interview that he was not entirely certain the measure would win the necessary approval in the House of Bishops.

“Some bishops I’ve talked to say it’s going to be much easier for the deputies” – the laity and clergy who make up the convention’s “lower” chamber – “because they don’t have to face the fallout,” he said. “It’s the bishops’ desks where the mail is going to land” in dioceses where gay marriage is largely perceived as an assault on Christianity.

However, Bishop Sean Rowe of the Episcopal Diocese of Northwestern Pennsylvania, based in Erie, said passage appeared assured “and unlikely to prove destructive.”

How can passage of a bill that directly contradicts the Word of God not be destructive? When I read this article, I finally get it. I see what is going on: “For Bennison and many other Episcopalians who advocate for gay ordination and marriage rights, however, the biblical injunctions against homosexuality are important – but not the final word.” I think that pretty much sums up the problems facing TEC today, the Word of God is not the final word. Well pleased explain what is.

How about this for a fundraiser for conservative blogs? For General Convention, get a bunch of bobblehead dolls, but instead of having the heads bobble up and down in nods, have them bobble sideways back and forth in shaking of the heads. Because at this point, that is all we can do – shake our heads in sadness, shame and incredulity.

#1, drummie–The final word is their Human Word(emphasis not mine). Oh, that pesky little idolatry thingy…I’ll have to ask their advice on getting around that, so I can be more intellectually developed than God, too. :-/

Wow, these people really do want ACNA to become the main Anglican denomination in the USA….

MichaelA, that’s what TEC means by “planting new churches”.
