Yes, Karen B., and +Minns has done rather well. Why wouldn’t anyone expect +Welby to do as well? How much episcopal experience does one need?
I have not the slightest objection to a bishop with an oil industry background. I don’t think a man who’s been a bishop only one year has the kind of experience that would qualify him for Canterbury, though. Jefferts Schori was thinly qualified, and that hasn’t turned out too well.
In Schori’s case, her “episcopacy” has been disastrous from the very beginning, but as far as I’ve been able to discover, +Welby’s hasn’t…..and therein lies the difference.
