  1. John Boyland says:

I noticed that ASA was up slightly (by 56 for the entire denomination), but 2011 was a Christmas-Sunday year. What is the usual bump that one would expect from a Christmas-Sunday year?

  2. MichaelA says:

At least they admit the 1.9 Million figure. Many proponents of TEC still trot out the 2.3 Million figure or higher, yet these are years out of date.

The question then arises, how much of this 1.9 Million is based on inflated figures of the sort that TEC is notorious for? Oh well, I guess we’ll know soon enough – TEC is either in decline or it isn’t, and if it is, they can only fudge the figures for so long.

[blockquote] “Twenty-seven domestic dioceses showed growth in membership in the past year:” [/blockquote]
    Really?

According to the third document, TEC has shrunk by 3-4% every year, until this last one, when the shrinking stopped entirely. Is there any suggestion as to why that would be?

  3. Statmann says:

The 1.5 percent decline in Members appears to confirm that Baptisms fell short of Burials. Plate & Pledge was up about one percent but Inflation was up about three percent meaning that Real income for TEC fell by two percent. Not a good omen. BUT the big shocker was the NO DECLINE in ASA. It would appear that the pews are filled with happy campers. BUT in 2012 the last (?) line in the sand was made: Same-Sex Marraige, Will that initiate a new exodus? We will find out as facts in 2012 and 2013 emerge. Statmann

Funny how they neglected to say Albany grew this year.
