Dr Giddings quotes Bishop Welby’s response to him:
“It never crossed my mind that you were in the slightest bit offensive, discourteous, impolite, disrespectful or anything other than engaging very appropriately in discussion of a serious issue. I did think you were wrong. You thought I was. But we really need to be able to disagree as I am sure you do agree.”

The comment from +Justin Welby is very reasonable. He makes the very point that some people (regardless of political point of view) don’t like that sometimes discussion leads to disagreement. That doesn’t mean anyone is discourteous, impolite, etc. just disagreeing. Some people can tolerate disagreement and others can’t. I find most liberals can not tolerate disagreement but many conservatives not only tolerate it but can engage it quite successfully. It is just like trying to “discuss” things with Episcopagan liberal TEccies, either you agree with them or you are being all those adjectives. sigh……
I am somewhat troubled that Justin Welby thinks it is wrong for opponents to women bishops to be accommodated within the Church of England.
