The Church of Ireland has also released its response to the draft covenant, and it can be accessed here.
Part of me thinks the covenant is a good idea, to try and set some boundaries and discipline. And part of me thinks its a bad idea, because its going to come down to parsing the letter of yet a new law and rules book, and ultimately what the bible teaches us that its not by following a rule book, its through a change of heart that real transformation happens. Otherwise people just look for loopholes in the rule book to do what is in their heart anyway. How do we go about getting that change of heart?
