(LBC) Archbishop Welby: Same-sex Marriage Could Mean Murder Of Christians Elsewhere

The Archbishop of Canterbury has told LBC that the Church of England embracing same sex marriage could lead to the persecution and murder of Christians elsewhere in the world.

Reverend Justin Welby made history by being the first Archbishop of Canterbury to take calls from the public in an hour long appearance on LBC.

One of the calls he recieved was from Kes in Charlton, a member of the clergy herself, who urged Reverend Welby to allow members of the church to be left to their own conscience on the subject of gay marriage and carry out ceremonies.

  1. SC blu cat lady says:

At least ++Welby understands that what is done in the Global North can and does affect christians in other parts of the world. Since he knows this, then making the best decision for the entire Anglican Communion should not be difficult.

  2. Capt. Father Warren says:

It’s encouraging that he had the guts to say “we can’t do that”.

It’s discouraging to note that the revelation of God in Holy Scripture had nothing to do with his assertion.

I’m with Capt. Father Warren — I find it demoralizing.

As an aside, of course, I’m glad that Archbishop Welby recognizes the life and death consequences of the COE’s decisions.

But the response from sexuality activists is going to be “if it is intrinsically immoral to deny those with minority sexual attractions recognition and blessing from the Church, then it does not matter what the consequences are.”
