Notable and Quotable

A tongue-in-cheek Web site called Bush-Clinton Forever is already proposing Jeb Bush in 2017, Chelsea Clinton in 2025, Jeb Bush’s son George P. Bush in 2033, Chelsea Clinton’s husband in 2041 and George W. Bush’s daughter Jenna Bush from 2049-2057.

What, no place for the Nixon kid?

  2. Chris Molter says:

oh, COME ON! You can’t leave out Jimmy Carter’s daughter!

  3. Chris says:

the theory is Clinton Bush alternating forever – so what about Barabra, the other Bush daughter? need to find a Clinton (maybe Chelsea’s child?) for after Jenna then Barbara would be next…..

  4. stevejax says:

All kidding aside, though: if JEB did not suffer from being in the Bush family, he would be a formidable candidate this a fall.

  5. Chris Molter says:

#3, eventually the Bene Gesserit would engineer a mixing of the two bloodlines and we would have the Kwisatz Haderach!

  6. Andrew717 says:

Chris, I was thinking the same thing. Lol!

And you’re right Steve. If Jeb’s last name was “Smith” he might be the front runner.

  7. libraryjim says:

JEB decimated the Florida economy (I know — I know, he left a budget surplus when he left office, but that’s not the only inidcator) and the State Worker system — from which we are still recovering.

If he were to run I doubt he’d get much support from Florida.

  8. Andrew717 says:

Really? Most of my family lives in FL, and I did up until two years ago. The only people I know who don’t like Jeb hate anyone and everyone with either an (R) or “Bush” after their names.

  9. libraryjim says:

Well, Andrew, I AM a Republican, vote republican, and was a State worker up until 5 years ago. I can state first-hand how his anti-State policies decimated the effectiveness of State agencies to do their jobs.

Frankly, I can’t stand JEB or his destructive policies. The one thing he did do well was disaster management after the devestating hurricanes we had hit the state during his tenure as Governor. The only reason I voted for him was the people he was running against would have been 100 times WORSE then he.

  10. Andrew717 says:

Oh, I know you’re safely on my side Jim. That’s why I was puzzled. Granted, we have nearly no contact with state employees, so none of us really came across that angle.

What do you think of Crist?

  11. Irenaeus says:

If the United States were to remain on its GWB trajectory, it would deserve Jenna Bush from 2049 to 2057.

  12. libraryjim says:

    Andrew,
Crist hasn’t been in office long enough for a true objective opinion, however, so far he’s been long on talk, little on action, and then seemingly leaning towards more liberal than conservative. But as I said, need more time. I’m hoping he doesn’t get a VP invite, though, for the controversy and confusion it would cause — Think Frank Brogran resigning to become president of Florida Atlantic University (come to think of it, I don’t even know who the Lt. Gov. is right now).

  13. libraryjim says:

    Brogran = Brogan. sorry.

  14. azusa says:

    # 9 – ya see? even the folks that hate Jeb vote for him!
    Draft Jeb now!

  15. azusa says:

… but what if Chelsea marries a Bush?

  16. Kubla says:

    Gordian see comment #5 above…

  17. libraryjim says:

We could do as the Romans did in the early days of the Republic — have a two emperor system: a Bush AND a Clinton.

  18. Jennie TCO says:

Lord, have mercy! I can’t bear to think of it!

  19. azusa says:

]#16, Ah, that one was lost on me. I really hated that movie!
