This is my old parish when I was living and working in Egypt and thrilling to watch. I have been many times in the areas where the clinic and nursery school is and what is shown and said about conditions these people face is true. With so much good here in The U.S., we can not really understand poverty of body and spirit like we found in those parts of Alexandria.
Father Sammy embodies the Christlike presence all priests should show. The Bishop of Cairo , I don’t remember his name, confirmed my two sons.
From what I read and hear about ABp Mouneer, I know he is a wonderful man of God and his work for the Lord is a great blessing to all under his care in Egypt and elsewhere.
Times seem to have changed, because in my day our Egyptian friends were scrutinized pretty closely when caught worshiping with us. We were there when Sadat was killed and things were really dicey for us as westerners. Praise God that the modern communicants of St. Mark’s are allowed to worship freely and to do so much good.
There is so much more I could say about Alexabdria and St. Marks’, but won’t bore you.
