  1. Jill Woodliff says:

[blockquote] In an ultimate sense, we do not hope for victory over others, and we certainly do not seek a uniform set of beliefs that correspond to ones we hold. Rather, we hope for a time and place where differences are appreciated and valued and where all God’s children are accepted, for the mutual benefit of everyone. [/blockquote]
Given the failure of consents of Bp Mark Lawrence’s election and the disciplinary treatment of Bp Lawrence (changing the members of the disciplinary committee to bring the same charges a second time, for a different outcome), I find this statement disingenuous.

  2. Sarah1 says:

Exactly so, Jill — you just have to smile don’t you.

But that’s the way the revisionist activists in TEC — like most of our bishops — roll. When they are on the losing end or in the weaker position, they speak peace and reconciliation. When they are on the ascendancy, they bring out the tanks and roll right over those from whom they asked for peace, and acceptance, and inclusion earlier.

  3. Katherine says:

If TEC does not seek a uniform set of beliefs to impose on others, then why did it uncanonically attempt to depose +Lawrence and take over the Diocese on its own terms? Parishes with majorities wishing to affiliate with TEC were allowed to depart the Diocese with their properties. The actions of TECSC to attempt to take the properties of those who stayed with the Diocese is clearly an attempt for victory over others, not a recognition of appreciation and value for differences.

What a joke… to try link this ruling with African Americans’ “dream deferred.”

“disingenuous” is incredibly polite. Its synonyms and antonyms are more descriptive and apposite, or demonstrative of the opposite by comparison with the actions taken and words mis-spoken:
