    I suggest saying that they “try to expose the truth”.

    I think that a cartoonist must know the truth in order to then expose it in a way that is palatable for the reading public.

    I don’t know if the cartoonist acomplished that in the subject cartoon but the truth is definitely pointed at. At an amazing number of levels, I might add.

    I preferred the old debate format where the candidates stood some distance apart from each other. This new thing where they sit next to each other just encourages them to be even more dishonest than usual. Lincoln and Douglas would have thought it unseemly.
