Members of an Anglican parish in Metchosin, determined to quit the church over gay marriages, can continue to use the premises of St. Mary of the Incarnation.
Under an agreement reached this week, the two ministers of St. Mary of the Incarnation have resigned. Sharon Hayton is no longer rector and Andrew Hewlett is no longer assistant priest.
But also under the agreement, the Diocese of British Columbia has agreed to allow the breakaway parishioners to continue to meet at the church at 4125 Metchosin Rd., at least temporarily.
I have said it before and will say it again COS IT IS VERY IMPORTANT
How can you oppose active homosexual clergy but allow women’s ordination??? Either we submit our wills to biblical principles, the tradition of the church and reason OR we do not.
To break over one issue but be soft on the other is to carry the cancer accross with you. It is pick and mix on the issues that happen to offend you- and no different to any liberal interpretation of events.
This is NOT a WO thread. Please do not try to turn it into one.
Sorry but I wish to challenge this. I would argue it is a thread on the split in our church. That split is caused by a church that has stopped relying on scripture, reason and tradition and turned to feelings, opinons and experience.
In many ways your response is evidence of the malais. You wish to compartmentalise WO- homosexuality- etc etc but the truth is they are all connected very closely. And unless we realise that we really aere dead in the water- hence this article concerns me.
Having made that clear – I apololgise if my comments seemed unreasonable
Rugbyplayingpriest is spot on. Well said, sir.
Since when does the Traditional Anglican Church allow women priests?…or is the title of this tread misleading and it is NOT a member of TAC?
