There are many difficulties here. We come from different places and with different experiences. What I find disheartening is the amount of misconception about the Episcopal Church. Many bishops have misconceptions about our theology as well as our responses to the discord in the Communion. We have many bridges to build in the next two weeks.
Dare I say there wouldn’t be so many bridges to build if TEC had not burnt them to ashes doing what they did at General Convention 2003 and thereafter
“It’s very difficult — we’re so misunderstood! Indaba will foster open discussion. Once everyone hears us, they’ll understand, and all the differences will be healed.”
*sigh*
There is not a whit of interest in ECUSA/TEC in rebuilding those burnt bridges if it means their admission of error and jumping the gun and being wrong. Of course, the deception and lying practiced by two PBs is a reason for distrust. Of course, the declared intent that ECUSA/TEC is the leader and the rest of the world is 50 years behind inspires trust.
Hard to imagine why there’s a problem, really.
And, of course, they have the Integrity, Changing Attitude, VG Robinson circus to see for themselves what it is that ECUSA/TEC and ACCanada and CoE adherents intend for the whole communion. So, there may be a bit of trust to create …..
This is the old talking point that we need to communicate better so that there can be understanding and acceptance. This translates that I am right and you can not get it.
In the two pictures on the bishop’s blog page I think I only saw one or two people smiling. The rest look like they don’t have much to smile about.

I bet we disagree on exactly which bishops have the misconceptions–TEC/ACC/CoE’s or all the others!!!!
What theology?
Darn it Pageantmaster!! That was my line!
Did my comment get edited?
What the “many” bishops have are not misconceptions. They are accurate. TEC bishops are the ones with the misconception. They think they can do whatever they want and still play at being part of a worldwide communion. Their misconception is so severe that they are willing to ruin that communion in order to stay in it. This game is called “let’s play pretend.”
