{"id":102840,"date":"2021-06-07T09:00:32","date_gmt":"2021-06-07T13:00:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=102840"},"modified":"2021-06-07T17:28:53","modified_gmt":"2021-06-07T21:28:53","slug":"david-ould-bishop-of-gippsland-supports-synod-motion-endorsing-extra-marital-relationships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=102840","title":{"rendered":"David Ould&#8211;Bishop of Gippsland supports Synod motion endorsing extra-marital relationships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gippsanglican.org.au\/assets\/00TGA\/2021\/TGA_June_21FINAL.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Gippsland Anglican reports in its June edition<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>One of the Bishop-in-Council motions was to add a preamble to Section 7 of <em>Faithfulness in Service <\/em>so that a member of the clergy or church worker in a committed and monogamous relationship is not considered to be breaching two clauses therein \u201cbecause that relationship does not have the status of a marriage solemnised according to an Anglican marriage rite.\u201d The clauses in question refer to \u201cchastity in singleness and faithfulness in marriage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In his presidential address, Bishop Richard said, \u201c\u2026 for years, we have been expecting people who are in faithful, committed relationships that either do not constitute marriage, or do not correspond with our church\u2019s doctrine of marriage, either to sign [up to <em>Faithfulness in Service<\/em>] with their fingers crossed, or to walk away.
