Some owners see a path forward"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ask most local restaurateurs, and they\u2019ll tell you that staff shortages have been hampering Charleston restaurants for the past five to 10 years.<\/p>\n<p>The COVID-19 pandemic turned the problem into a crisis, and the omicron variant reminded restaurateurs how ongoing staffing struggles, coupled with positive cases, impact daily operations.<\/p>\n<p>In Charleston, King Street\u2019s Monza Pizza Bar has been closed since Nov. 6 \u201cdue to acute staffing shortages.\u201d Smallish places like The Pass, a 647-square-foot sandwich shop, have changed operations to limit guest interactions.
