{"id":113330,"date":"2022-06-24T12:12:56","date_gmt":"2022-06-24T16:12:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=113330"},"modified":"2022-06-24T14:14:58","modified_gmt":"2022-06-24T18:14:58","slug":"acna-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=113330","title":{"rendered":"(ACNA) Anglicans React To Supreme Court Dobbs Decision"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today the United States Supreme Court ruled that \u201cthe Constitution does not confer a right to abortion,\u201d overruling <em>Roe v. Wade (1973).<\/em>  The decision will \u201creturn the issue of abortion to the people\u2019s elected representatives \u2026 to be resolved like most important questions in our democracy: by citizens trying to persuade one another and then voting.\u201d  In the case of <em>Dobbs v. Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization<\/em>, a five Justice majority of the Supreme Court overruled both <em>Roe<\/em> and the 1992 decision <em>Planned Parenthood v. Casey<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/anglicanchurch.net\/anglicans-react-to-dobbs-decision\/#_ftn1\" name=\"_ftnref1\">[1]<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The inherent value of human life is revealed in the Scriptures, and this biblical commitment is reflected in the Anglican Church in North America\u2019s Constitution and Canons which calls all members and clergy \u201cto promote and respect the sanctity of every human life from conception to natural death\u201d (Title II.8.3).<\/p>\n<p>Archbishop Beach commented:<\/p>\n<p><em>While this decision doesn\u2019t end abortion in the U.S., it will lead to fewer children being killed through abortion. We thank God for this limited victory, and the Anglican Church in North America recommits itself to serving mothers so they can embrace motherhood and welcome their children. We also continue to point the way to God\u2019s healing and forgiveness for all who suffer physically and emotionally from their abortion experiences.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/anglicanchurch.net\/anglicans-react-to-dobbs-decision\/\">Read it all<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Let us give thanks to God for this decision and continue to work to safeguard and promote life.
