{"id":113421,"date":"2022-06-28T17:25:13","date_gmt":"2022-06-28T21:25:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=113421"},"modified":"2022-06-28T17:37:36","modified_gmt":"2022-06-28T21:37:36","slug":"archbishops-commission-on-racial-justice-releases-first-biannual-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=113421","title":{"rendered":"Archbishops\u2019 Commission on Racial Justice releases First Biannual Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mandated to drive \u2018significant cultural and structural change on issues of racial justice within the Church of England\u2019, the Archbishops\u2019 Commission for Racial Justice (\u201cACRJ\u201d), headed by The Rt Hon Lord Paul Boateng, is charged with monitoring, holding to account and supporting the implementation of the forty-seven recommendations of the Racial Justice Taskforce which were laid out in the Taskforce\u2019s comprehensive 2020 report <a class=\"u-mouseBlur\" title=\"From Lament to Action - The Report of the Archbishops\u2019 Anti-Racism Taskforce\" href=\"https:\/\/www.churchofengland.org\/media\/23684\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" data-entity-type=\"media\" data-entity-uuid=\"f039692e-acc7-420c-a69a-61c2fc4f6fae\">From Lament to Action<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In his <a class=\"u-mouseBlur\" title=\"Archbishops\u2019 Commission on Racial Justice First Biannual Report\" href=\"https:\/\/www.churchofengland.org\/media\/27494\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" data-entity-type=\"media\" data-entity-uuid=\"17d2b77b-1c9a-4bd5-8ded-b1d65fbed55f\">foreword letter to the First Report<\/a>, Lord Boateng writes, \u201cThis is a painful process, and necessarily so, in that the response to an examination of racism and the exposure of injustice is often one of denial and defensiveness or obscuration and delay. This must not go unchallenged.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Released today, the Commission states: \u201cIn this, the first of the six reports the ACRJ will produce, we have outlined the beginning of this work, reporting on the formulation of the seven workstreams in the last three months, and the progress of work on the five priority areas and the forty-seven recommendations identified in From Lament to Action.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.churchofengland.org\/media-and-news\/press-releases\/archbishops-commission-racial-justice-releases-first-biannual-report\">Read it all<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We are encouraged to see the work of the Racial Justice Commission in challenging current practice and stimulating culture change in the Church of England.
