In her 1976 autobiography, Loretta Lynn, then 44, reflected on her \u201cfunny beliefs,\u201d which she said sometimes mixed religion and superstition.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m trying to lead a good Christian life, especially since I got baptized two years ago,\u201d she wrote. \u201cSo there ain\u2019t too much spicy to tell about me \u2014 just the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n
Elsewhere in the book, she proclaimed, \u201cNobody\u2019s perfect. The only one that ever was, was crucified.\u201d<\/p>\n
Lynn grew up in the coal-mining community of Butcher Holler, Ky., also known as Butcher Hollow. <\/p>\n
She attended church on Sundays and listened to preacher Elzie Banks \u201ctell us about God and the devil.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI believed it all, but for some reason, I was never baptized,\u201d she said. \u201cAfter I started in music, I got away from going to church and reading the Bible. I believe I was living the way God meant me to, but I wasn\u2019t giving God the right attention….\u201d<\/p>\n
