Woe is me! For I have become
\nas when the summer fruit has been gathered,
\n as when the vintage has been gleaned:
\nthere is no cluster to eat,
\n no first-ripe fig which my soul desires.
\nThe godly man has perished from the earth,
\n and there is none upright among men;
\nthey all lie in wait for blood,
\n and each hunts his brother with a net.
\nTheir hands are upon what is evil, to do it diligently;
\n the prince and the judge ask for a bribe,
\nand the great man utters the evil desire of his soul;
\n thus they weave it together.
\nThe best of them is like a brier,
\n the most upright of them a thorn hedge.
\nThe day of their watchmen, of their punishment, has come;
\n now their confusion is at hand.
\nPut no trust in a neighbor,
\n have no confidence in a friend;
\nguard the doors of your mouth
\n from her who lies in your bosom;
\nfor the son treats the father with contempt,
\n the daughter rises up against her mother,
\nthe daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law;
\n a man\u2019s enemies are the men of his own house.
\nBut as for me, I will look to the Lord,
