{"id":115800,"date":"2022-10-09T14:55:50","date_gmt":"2022-10-09T18:55:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=115800"},"modified":"2022-10-10T17:03:00","modified_gmt":"2022-10-10T21:03:00","slug":"local-paper-front-page-huge-rent-increases-have-charleston-area-residents-questioning-if-they-should-move","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=115800","title":{"rendered":"(Local paper front page) Huge rent increases have CharlestonSC-area residents questioning if they should move"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two years of huge rent increases in the already-expensive Charleston area have caused some tenants to take extra jobs, consider relocating to the rural edges of the suburbs or leave altogether for more affordable cities.<\/p>\n<p>Stress-inducing monthly rates have radiated out from the pricey Charleston peninsula and Mount Pleasant to once-affordable places such as West Ashley, North Charleston and Summerville.<\/p>\n<p>In September, according to Apartment List, the median yearly rent for an apartment in Ladson \u2014 some 20 miles from downtown Charleston \u2014 was $5,292 higher than it was two years earlier.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI went in (to the rental office) today in tears,\u201d said the Rev.
