Fallout continues from the changes of \u201cfour testing years\u201d\u009d at Wycliffe Hall, the theological college in Oxford…where there are \u201csome deeply wounded spirits\u201d\u009d, says an inspection report prepared for the House of Bishops.<\/p>\n
The five-yearly reports on theological colleges used to be confidential. The Wycliffe report was published on the Church of England website this week, along with one on St Stephen\u2019s House, Oxford. The colleges were graded in 13 areas with \u201cConfidence\u201d\u009d, \u201cConfidence with qualifications\u201d\u009d, or \u201cNo confidence\u201d\u009d.<\/p>\n
The Revd Dr Robin Ward, Principal of St Stephen\u2019s House, said on Wednesday: \u201cWe were of course surprised that the reports came to be published in full, with unexpected assessment criteria, which we didn\u2019t know until after the inspection process had finished.\u201d\u009d<\/p>\n
Both colleges are declared \u201cfit for purpose\u201d\u009d.<\/p>\n
