{"id":118660,"date":"2023-02-12T17:24:25","date_gmt":"2023-02-12T22:24:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=118660"},"modified":"2023-02-12T18:26:36","modified_gmt":"2023-02-12T23:26:36","slug":"ai-archbishop-of-canterbury-challenged-over-claims-of-being-threatened-with-parliamentary-action-to-bring-in-same-sex-marriage-in-the-church-of-england","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=118660","title":{"rendered":"(AI) Archbishop of Canterbury challenged over claims of being \u2018threatened with Parliamentary action\u2019 to bring in same-sex marriage in the Church of England"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Revd Paul Eddy is a vicar in Oxfordshire, Convenor of\u00a0<em>Anglican Orthodox<\/em>, and the pubic relations adviser to the influential Global South Fellowship of Anglican Churches (GSFA) which publicly challenged the archbishop liberalising leadership at last year\u2019s Lambeth Conference.\u00a0 The GSFA\u2019s provinces represent around 75 percent of global Anglicans.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Eddy said:\u00a0<em>\u201cSadly, as we found at the Lambeth Conference, the archbishop tells church leaders something which, in their culture, means something different to ours, knowing they don\u2019t have independent advisers on hand to explain.\u00a0The truth is \u2018parliament\u2019 does not mean the UK \u2018government\u2019, which is what Anglican Communion delegates, from 40-plus nations, just arrived in Ghana, will think.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI\u2019ve discussed these issues with MPs from both sides.\u00a0 There was an Urgent Debate in the Commons on the issue at which (from the BBC Parliament Channel), I counted 11 MP\u2019s present.
