{"id":127196,"date":"2024-02-26T07:59:54","date_gmt":"2024-02-26T12:59:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=127196"},"modified":"2024-02-26T17:20:52","modified_gmt":"2024-02-26T22:20:52","slug":"wsj-hospitals-and-pharmacies-reeling-after-change-healthcare-cyberattack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=127196","title":{"rendered":"(WSJ) Hospitals and Pharmacies Reeling After Change Healthcare Cyberattack"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Pharmacies warned of long waits for customers and U.S. military clinics worldwide have been affected after a cyberattack against one of the country\u2019s largest prescription processors rolled into a third day of downtime.<\/p>\n<p>Health industry experts said that a cyberattack against Change Healthcare, part of insurer UnitedHealth Group\u2019s Optum business, could have severe and lasting consequences should outages continue past the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a mess, and I believe it\u2019s our Colonial Pipeline moment in healthcare,\u201d said Carter Groome, chief executive of healthcare-focused consulting firm First Health Advisory, referring to a 2021 cyberattack that forced the major fuel artery for the U.S. East Coast to shut down for six days, causing long lines at gas stations.<\/p>\n<p>Change Healthcare was merged with Optum, a healthcare provider, in 2022 by UnitedHealth.
