{"id":132521,"date":"2024-11-04T14:07:00","date_gmt":"2024-11-04T19:07:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=132521"},"modified":"2024-11-04T18:10:18","modified_gmt":"2024-11-04T23:10:18","slug":"ct-argentina-moves-to-officially-celebrate-its-evangelicals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=132521","title":{"rendered":"(CT) Argentina Moves to Officially Celebrate Its Evangelicals"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>[On] October 31, Reformation Day, evangelicals in Argentina [had] an extra reason to celebrate, as their country officially recognizes the National Day of Evangelical and Protestant Churches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A bill calling for this recognition was approved by the lower Congreso de la Naci\u00f3n chamber, the Chamber of Deputies,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.christianitytoday.com\/2023\/10\/argentina-evangelical-protestant-catholic-religious-freedom\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">last year<\/a>. In April, the bill was unanimously approved in the Senate Chamber and then signed by president Javier Milei.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cToday we are not celebrating a religious holiday,\u201d said Christian Hooft, who leads ACIERA (Alliance of Evangelical Churches in the Republic of Argentina), at an event celebrating the day last Monday. \u201cWe are celebrating the historical identity of the faith of millions of Argentine citizens.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Argentina\u2019s evangelicals have long sought this recognition.
