{"id":132793,"date":"2024-11-18T17:07:00","date_gmt":"2024-11-18T22:07:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=132793"},"modified":"2024-11-18T17:31:04","modified_gmt":"2024-11-18T22:31:04","slug":"church-times-risk-to-englands-historic-churches-greater-than-ever-says-sir-philip-rutnam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=132793","title":{"rendered":"(Church Times) Risk to England\u2019s historic churches greater than ever, says Sir Philip Rutnam"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The \u00a0\u201cpriceless heritage\u201d of \u201chistoric and beautiful\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.churchtimes.co.uk\/topics\/church-buildings\">churches<\/a>\u00a0in England is in danger \u201cas never before\u201d, the chair of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.churchtimes.co.uk\/topics\/national-churches-trust\">National Churches Trust<\/a>\u00a0(NCT), Sir Philip Rutnam, has warned this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He was referring to the fact that 53 churches, chapels, and meeting houses had been added this year to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/historicengland.org.uk\/whats-new\/news\/heritage-at-risk-2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Historic England\u2019s Heritage at Risk Register<\/a>, announced last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sir Philip said that the situation could get worse in the coming months if the Government chose not to renew the Listed Places of Worship Grants Scheme, which is due to expire on 31 March 2025 (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.churchtimes.co.uk\/articles\/2024\/25-october\/news\/uk\/uk-news-in-brief\">News, 25 October<\/a>).
