When, instead, there was this wall of silence, I was pretty exposed and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.com\/uk\/religion\/article\/bishop-who-told-welby-to-quit-faces-wall-of-silence-vg9z9jh27\">did feel frozen out<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI had a few private contacts, \u2018hope you\u2019re OK\u2019, \u2018just let me know if you want a cup of tea\u2019, \u2018thoughts and prayers\u2019 but I really wanted colleagues \u2014 some colleagues at least \u2014 to speak out publicly to support my interventions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Confident, engaging and thoughtful, with a ready smile, Hartley confesses to feeling \u201ca degree of vulnerability\u201d after recent events. So much so that, in London this week to attend the House of Lords, she has been avoiding the Bishops\u2019 robing room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t feel able to go into the Bishops\u2019 robing room at the moment on my own. You might say that\u2019s an overreaction but I don\u2019t feel confident enough to go into that room with colleagues present. So I\u2019ve asked for my robes to be moved. And I\u2019m really sad that\u2019s the case but I have to look after myself in this too.
