On the day of his funeral, 26th January, Boston came to a virtual standstill. \u201cThe Boston stock exchange many of the business houses of the city closed from 11 o\u2019clock until two, \u201creported the New York Times, \u201cand brokers and clerks swell the throng that blackened Copley square\u201c in front of Trinity Church and filled the surrounding streets.
