{"id":134817,"date":"2025-02-10T17:41:48","date_gmt":"2025-02-10T22:41:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=134817"},"modified":"2025-02-10T17:44:40","modified_gmt":"2025-02-10T22:44:40","slug":"church-times-synod-rejects-attempt-to-deny-platform-to-archbishop-of-york","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=134817","title":{"rendered":"(Church Times) Synod rejects attempt to deny platform to Archbishop\u00a0of York"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.churchtimes.co.uk\/topics\/archbishop-of-york\"><strong>Archbishop of York<\/strong><\/a>, giving his presidential address at the beginning of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.churchtimes.co.uk\/topics\/general-synod\">General Synod\u2019s<\/a>&nbsp;meeting in London on Monday afternoon, pleaded to be given time to lead the Church of England out of its&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.churchtimes.co.uk\/topics\/safeguarding\">safeguarding<\/a>&nbsp;crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Having headed off an attempt by one member to prevent him from delivering his presidential address, the Archbishop apologised again for failures, and insisted that he could be trusted to steer the Church back into calmer waters before the appointment of the next Archbishop of Canterbury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI know that trust has been broken and confidence damaged. And I am more sorry about this than I can say. I know mistakes have been made. I know that I have made mistakes.
