When asked to come to\u00a0Liverpool<\/a>\u00a0to serve temporarily as diocesan Bishop, the Rt Revd Ruth Worsley \u201cbasically said no\u201d, but promised that she would think about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI wanted to do it on my terms,\u201d she told the Church Times <\/em>in an interview after her appointment as Interim Bishop of Liverpool<\/a> had been announced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After sleeping on the question, she proposed that, instead of \u201cActing Bishop\u201d, the job should be more clearly defined as \u201cInterim Bishop\u201d, with a stated duration of at least two years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m not going to be on loan. I\u2019m going to be there as a fully committed, paid-up player, joining in with all that the diocese is seeking to do,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
