about the mechanics of increasing the clergy pension<\/a> \u2014 currently set at an \u201cindefensible, ungodly, and unchristian\u201d level \u2014 must not delay agreement on the moral course of action, a Southwark<\/a> priest who has helped to organise concerned clergy said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThis is a justice issue,\u201d the Vicar of the Ascension, Balham Hill, the Revd Marcus Gibbs, said. \u201cWe take the decision to do the right thing \u2014 and that requires leadership \u2014 and then we work out how to do it. . . We need to start with the moral imperative.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Mr Gibbs, who is the Area Dean of Tooting, has gathered more than 700 signatories to a letter to the Church Times<\/em> this week calling for \u201curgent and decisive action on clergy pensions\u201d.
