{"id":138394,"date":"2025-07-07T17:12:00","date_gmt":"2025-07-07T21:12:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=138394"},"modified":"2025-07-07T19:03:15","modified_gmt":"2025-07-07T23:03:15","slug":"church-times-survey-exploring-trust-in-church-of-england-scrapped","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=138394","title":{"rendered":"(Church Times) Survey exploring trust in Church of England scrapped"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Last year, members were told that the Trust Task Group had invited Professor Richard Jackson of the University of Bath to help to design a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.churchtimes.co.uk\/topics\/statisticsresearchreports\">survey<\/a>&nbsp;to \u201cwiden the range and number\u201d of people feeding into the research on trust, as requested by the Synod. This followed a report that identified a need to \u201crepair and preserve trust in the Church\u2019s organisation and structures\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.churchtimes.co.uk\/articles\/2024\/28-june\/news\/uk\/what-would-jesus-think-if-he-read-your-social-media-posts-church-review-asks\">News, 24 June 2024<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In an update published with the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.churchtimes.co.uk\/topics\/general-synod\">General Synod<\/a>&nbsp;papers last week, Bishop Sellin announced that the Task Group had \u201cadvised to cancel this survey and focus on repair strategies, which the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.churchtimes.co.uk\/topics\/house-of-bishops\">House of Bishops<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.churchtimes.co.uk\/topics\/archbishops-council\">Archbishops\u2019 Council<\/a>&nbsp;has accepted . . . The key reason for this choice is the conclusion that running such a survey is unlikely to tell us anything new and may do more harm than good \u2014 to all of us in the Church of England that we seek to serve.
