{"id":140575,"date":"2025-10-16T16:28:00","date_gmt":"2025-10-16T20:28:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=140575"},"modified":"2025-10-16T18:44:30","modified_gmt":"2025-10-16T22:44:30","slug":"church-times-persuade-pccs-to-take-action-if-same-sex-blessings-move-forward-alliance-tells-its-clergy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=140575","title":{"rendered":"(Church Times) Persuade PCCs to take action if same-sex blessings move forward, Alliance tells its clergy"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Alliance network has been encouraging incumbents who are unhappy with the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.churchtimes.co.uk\/topics\/living-in-love-and-faith\">Living in Love and Faith<\/a>\u00a0(LLF) process to make known their church\u2019s willingness to withdraw from Church of England structures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Behind the scenes, the Alliance \u2014 a network of church organisations opposed to the changes brought by the LLF process \u2014 has been encouraging incumbents to persuade their PCCs to pass a resolution stating that, if the Church of England moves forward with either stand-alone services or clergy same-sex marriage, the parish will take at least one of a set of actions. Those include: seeking \u201calternative episcopal oversight\u201d, a decision to \u201creroute their diocesan financial contributions\u201d, and moves to \u201cencourage ordinands to participate in an orthodox vocations programme\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Wednesday afternoon, the House of Bishops announced that full synodical approval would be required for either standalone services or clergy same-sex marriage, effectively stalling LLF (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.churchtimes.co.uk\/articles\/2025\/17-october\/news\/uk\/further-synodical-approval-is-needed-for-same-sex-blessings-house-of-bishops-says\">News, 15 October<\/a>).
