{"id":140975,"date":"2025-10-30T06:42:00","date_gmt":"2025-10-30T10:42:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=140975"},"modified":"2025-11-02T06:45:31","modified_gmt":"2025-11-02T11:45:31","slug":"church-times-anger-voiced-over-house-of-bishops-living-in-love-and-faith-decision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=140975","title":{"rendered":"(Church Times) Anger voiced over House of Bishops\u2019 Living in Love and Faith decision"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Bishops decided that there must be further synodical processes for stand-alone services of blessing for same-sex couples and for reconsideration of the bar on clerics\u2019 entering into&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.churchtimes.co.uk\/topics\/same-sex-marriage\">same-sex marriages<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEpiscopal authority has never been weaker since the 17th Century,\u201d wrote the Rector of St Giles\u2019s, Newcastle-under-Lyme, with Butterton, the Revd Joshua Penduck, in a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.psephizo.com\/sexuality-2\/the-idiocy-of-the-llf-process\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">blog post<\/a>. He suggested that there had been a lack of due process, attributable to \u201cstupidity\u201d, a \u201crush to create a new settlement\u201d, and \u201ca lack of honesty about what such a process could achieve\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe fact that the legal advice has only just been released is a mark of how needlessly painful the process has been,\u201d he wrote.
