{"id":142666,"date":"2026-01-16T18:35:21","date_gmt":"2026-01-16T23:35:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=142666"},"modified":"2026-01-16T18:36:48","modified_gmt":"2026-01-16T23:36:48","slug":"af-have-the-bishops-put-the-llf-travelator-into-reverse","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=142666","title":{"rendered":"(AF) Have the C of E Bishops put the LLF Travelator into reverse?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Just over two years ago, an Anglican Futures blogger adopted the concept of the \u2018Travelator\u2019 as a way of explaining how the process of changing the Church of England\u2019s practice and teaching about sexual relationships works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-yiu3g838536\">The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.anglicanfutures.org\/post\/oh-mr-porter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><u>blog explained<\/u><\/a>\u00a0how David Porter, the then Archbishop of Canterbury\u2019s Strategy Consultant, ensured that the process would itself become the outcome, by legitimising the questions being asked and preventing any \u2018end point\u2019, other than the introduction of blessings and\/or same-sex marriage, with the expectation that those who disagree are required to \u2018walk together\u2019\/ \u2018agree to disagree\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-ryynq1106197\">Just like a Travelator \u2013 once the first step is taken, there is no way off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-8lmuj51463\">Today, however, some are suggesting that the House of Bishops\u2019&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.churchofengland.org\/sites\/default\/files\/2026-01\/bishops-statement-jan-2026-final.pdf\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><u>latest statement<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;represents a reversal of the Travelator.
