Anthropic\u2019s artificial-intelligence tool Claude was used in the U.S. military\u2019s operation<\/a> to capture former Venezuelan President Nicol\u00e1s Maduro, highlighting how AI models are gaining traction in the Pentagon, according to people familiar with the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mission to capture Maduro and his wife included bombing several sites<\/a> in Caracas last month. Anthropic\u2019s usage guidelines<\/a> prohibit Claude from being used to facilitate violence, develop weapons or conduct surveillance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u200b\u200b\u201dWe cannot comment on whether Claude, or any other AI model, was used for any specific operation, classified or otherwise,\u201d said an Anthropic spokesman. \u201cAny use of Claude\u2014whether in the private sector or across government\u2014is required to comply with our Usage Policies, which govern how Claude can be deployed.
