{"id":143280,"date":"2026-02-14T06:47:00","date_gmt":"2026-02-14T11:47:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=143280"},"modified":"2026-02-14T07:26:20","modified_gmt":"2026-02-14T12:26:20","slug":"from-the-morning-bible-readings-1661","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=143280","title":{"rendered":"From the morning Bible Readings"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Then Jacob went on his journey, and came to the land of the people of the east.&nbsp;As he looked, he saw a well in the field, and lo, three flocks of sheep lying beside it; for out of that well the flocks were watered. The stone on the well\u2019s mouth was large,&nbsp;and when all the flocks were gathered there, the shepherds would roll the stone from the mouth of the well, and water the sheep, and put the stone back in its place upon the mouth of the well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jacob said to them, \u201cMy brothers, where do you come from?\u201d They said, \u201cWe are from Haran.\u201d&nbsp;He said to them, \u201cDo you know Laban the son of Nahor?\u201d They said, \u201cWe know him.\u201d&nbsp;He said to them, \u201cIs it well with him?\u201d They said, \u201cIt is well; and see, Rachel his daughter is coming with the sheep!\u201d&nbsp;He said, \u201cBehold, it is still high day, it is not time for the animals to be gathered together; water the sheep, and go, pasture them.\u201d&nbsp;But they said, \u201cWe cannot until all the flocks are gathered together, and the stone is rolled from the mouth of the well; then we water the sheep.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While he was still speaking with them, Rachel came with her father\u2019s sheep; for she kept them.&nbsp;Now when Jacob saw Rachel the daughter of Laban his mother\u2019s brother, and the sheep of Laban his mother\u2019s brother, Jacob went up and rolled the stone from the well\u2019s mouth, and watered the flock of Laban his mother\u2019s brother.&nbsp;Then Jacob kissed Rachel, and wept aloud.&nbsp;And Jacob told Rachel that he was her father\u2019s kinsman, and that he was Rebekah\u2019s son; and she ran and told her father.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When Laban heard the tidings of Jacob his sister\u2019s son, he ran to meet him, and embraced him and kissed him, and brought him to his house. Jacob told Laban all these things,&nbsp;and Laban said to him, \u201cSurely you are my bone and my flesh!\u201d And he stayed with him a month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then Laban said to Jacob, \u201cBecause you are my kinsman, should you therefore serve me for nothing?
