Ashey is advising Wood as he awaits trial on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/livingchurch.org\/news\/acna-primate-to-stand-trial\/\">canonical charges<\/a>&nbsp;of personal and sexual misconduct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a lengthy&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/du1vcq2i9949a.cloudfront.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Ashey_Letter_to_College_8May2026_signed_x.pdf\">retraction<\/a>&nbsp;sent to the church\u2019s bishops a week later, Ashey apologized for his speculation that Wood would be exonerated and for his \u201cinaccurate\u201d portrayal of the complainants, some of whom now belong to the Diocese of South Carolina, as \u201caggrieved\u201d terminated employees.
