{"id":145452,"date":"2026-05-27T17:41:00","date_gmt":"2026-05-27T21:41:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=145452"},"modified":"2026-05-27T18:43:51","modified_gmt":"2026-05-27T22:43:51","slug":"church-times-nominee-for-next-bishop-of-bristol-withdraws-for-family-reasons","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=145452","title":{"rendered":"(Church Times) Nominee for next Bishop of Bristol withdraws for \u2018family reasons\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.churchtimes.co.uk\/topics\/diocese-of-bristol\">diocese of Bristol<\/a>\u00a0announced on Wednesday that the person due to be announced as its next Bishop was no longer able to take up the position \u201cdue to family reasons\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.churchtimes.co.uk\/topics\/bishop-of-swindon\">Bishop of Swindon<\/a>, the Rt Revd Neil Warwick, who has served as acting diocesan bishop since Bishop Vivienne Faull\u2019s retirement last September (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.churchtimes.co.uk\/articles\/2025\/14-february\/news\/uk\/uk-news-in-brief\">News, 14 February 2025<\/a>), will continue to serve in this capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Crown Nominations Commission (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.churchtimes.co.uk\/topics\/crown-nominations-commissionbishops-appointments\">CNC<\/a>) met in April and nominated a candidate, a statement from Church House said. \u201cThe individual has since decided, with regret, to withdraw from the nomination for family reasons.
