Given the lack of evidence of any mass radical ideology of Christian nationalism, then, why does that narrative gain so much traction in today\u2019s discourse? We can point to a few reasons. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
First, as the country has become more progressive in many ways, those who support the idea of a Christian nation are now further from the mainstream and thus look<\/em> more extreme than they used to even if their views haven\u2019t much changed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Second, there is a group of politicians, theologians, and right-wing influencers who really do<\/em> advocate for radical ideologies that can be reasonably labeled \u201cChristian nationalist\u201d in the most alarming sense of the phrase.
