{"id":16404,"date":"2009-11-30T11:01:37","date_gmt":"2009-11-30T11:01:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/127.0.0.1\/site\/2017\/2\/1985\/legalise_assisted_suicide_kirk_minister_says\/"},"modified":"2009-11-30T11:01:37","modified_gmt":"2009-11-30T11:01:37","slug":"legalise_assisted_suicide_kirk_minister_says","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=16404","title":{"rendered":"Legalise assisted suicide, Kirk minister says"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A retired Church of Scotland minister is calling for assisted suicide to be legalised so that patients could end their lives &#8220;in an ethical and merciful manner&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Contradicting the Church&#8217;s official stance on the issue, the Rev Dr John Cameron praised the work of Dignitas, the Swiss-based assisted suicide group, and accused Britain of &#8220;exporting&#8221; its ethical dilemma overseas.<\/p>\n<p>Writing in the Kirk&#8217;s official journal, he said Dignitas provided a much needed service for individuals who want to &#8220;die as they have lived&#8221;.
