{"id":19060,"date":"2010-04-07T02:49:05","date_gmt":"2010-04-07T02:49:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/127.0.0.1\/site\/2017\/2\/1985\/evangelical_lutheran_church_of_tanzania_voices_a_big_no_to_same-sex_marriag\/"},"modified":"2010-04-07T02:49:05","modified_gmt":"2010-04-07T02:49:05","slug":"evangelical_lutheran_church_of_tanzania_voices_a_big_no_to_same-sex_marriag","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=19060","title":{"rendered":"Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania voices a big `no&#39; to same-sex marriages"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania (ELCT) has distanced itself from the recognition of same-sex marriages by Lutheran churches in the US and Sweden.<\/p>\n<p>The head of the ELCT, Bishop Alex Malasusa, said during his Easter Mass sermon at the Azania Front Church in Dar es Salaam that the local church did not support the decision because it was against God&#8217;s word.<\/p>\n<p>He said Lutheran churches in the US and Sweden had strayed from the Scriptures, and it was up to Africa to bring them back into line.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;ELCT has refused to recognise the decision to allow same-sex marriages because it is against the Holy Bible.
