It also inspired him to argue that the \u201cwe\u201d\u009d in a \u201cwe are at war\u201d\u009d response to the events of Sept. 11, 2001, could not possibly be a Christian \u201cwe.\u201d\u009d One might suggest that such a challenge was not a far cry from Stanley Hauerwas, age 7, who innocently challenged the etiquette of the water kegs available for bricklayers with one cup designated for white and another for black workers. Young Hauerwas drank indiscriminately from either one.
